Every community is held together by people who quietly keep showing up.
They unlock the shop doors before sunrise. They step into classrooms and hospital rooms. They fix engines, cook meals, raise families, and care for others long after the world stops paying attention.

Where They Stand is a portrait project that documents people in the places where their work and purpose live. Each portrait is made in the environment where the subject spends their days — a classroom, workshop, kitchen, field, storefront, or job site.
Alongside each photograph is a single question:“What keeps you showing up here?”
The answers are simple, honest reflections on work, responsibility, love, and perseverance.This project is not about fame or recognition.
It is about the quiet dignity of people who keep showing up — day after day — in the places that shape their lives and their communities.
Photographed in natural light and presented in black and white, the images aim to reveal something deeper than occupation: the humanity behind the work.

Where They Stand will culminate in a collection of portraits and stories published through The Unvarnished Lens.
